The Definition of Stronghold:
A stronghold; is a place that has been fortified so as to protect it against attack.
Biblically speaking, A stronghold; is a demonic fortress of thoughts housing the enemy and his demonic forces.
Now here's how it work:
It controls, dictate, and influence your attitudes and behavior;
It oppress or depresses you;
It filter and color how you view or react to situations, circumstances, or people. When you entertain thoughts and participate in activities that are in conflict with the knowledge of God in your life, you open yourself up to demonic in habitation (in those areas).
How does a stronghold development:
Satanic-inspired THOUGHTS are introduced into your mind.
Entertaining these thoughts brings on EMOTIONS.
Giving in to these emotions eventually leads YOU to taking some sort of ACTION.
Continued participation in this action causes you to develop a HABIT.
Once a habit is developed, a STRONGHOLD is built by the enemy.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 New King James Version (NKJV)
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.
Here we find, Paul is speaking about pulling down strongholds he is using an analogy whereas a Roman army builds fortresses, or castles there strong hold to protect themselves, to rest and prepare themselves for an attack.
The same way we have thought patterns and ideas or ideals that are in conflict with the knowledge of God and the enemy inhabits these realms of though. So, the enemy holds up in the thought life. This is where the enemy is concealed and is safe to hide and from here he is able to Kill, Steal and Destroy.
Dealing with thoughts ideas and ideals that are separate from the thoughts and ideas of God, that moment we entertain a lie we war against the very purpose of God in your life.
The enemy builds his strong hold, in though patterns in our mind that are in conflict with the knowledge of God in our lives.
Here are some examples: Feeling helpless, feeling worthless, feeling hopeless,
feeling overwhelmed, thinking of suicide, also thoughts like I’m not good enough, no one loves you, I hate my life. These thoughts are building blocks for a strongholds.
The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has concluded:
Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for 15 to 24-year-old Americans.
Suicide is the 4th leading cause of death for adults ages 18-65.
The highest increase in suicide is in males 50+.
Suicide rates for females are highest among those aged 45-54.
Romans 8:6-8 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
6 For the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set of the Spirit is life and peace. 7 For the mind-set of the flesh is hostile to God because it does not submit itself to God's law, for it is unable to do so. 8 Those, who are in the flesh, cannot please God.
So, the mind that is opposing to the word of God in our life, it just set you up for failure. These thoughts ideas or ideals that are in competition with what God knows to be true in our life is demonic in nature.
What makes that lie so powerful that is competition with what God knows is true, it's our vote or our choice to believe that lie that what makes that lie so powerful, but it has no power at all to compete with the power of God's truth in our life.
These thoughts that are in violation the purpose of God in our lives are the building blocks to the strong hold that the enemy inhabits. Now this isn't a simple thought, it is a pattern of thinking, this pattern wars against the purpose of God in your life. It is a realm of safety for the enemy to hide and dwell in and attack from.
When there is a problem that has been created have given you a reason to believe something that is in violation to what God knows to be true, then we have to repent and deal with that thought. It is one thing to confess the sin, it is another thing to change the way you think about that subject. That is where repentance means to change the way you think.
When we pray, we engage the power of God against the devil. When we worship, we place God on the throne. When we pick up the sword of Scripture, we do what Jesus did in the wilderness. He responded to Satan by proclaiming truth. And since Satan has a severe allergy to truth, he left Jesus alone. Satan will not linger long when God is being praised, and prayers are being offered. And because God’s promises are unbreakable, our hope is unshakable!
God Bless, Israel
