What is Stronghold?

Did you know that your mind is a battlefield? And that Satan attempts to set up strongholds in your mind?

A stronghold is a strong mindset that excepts a situation as unchangeable even though it is against the will of God. A stronghold is a mindset saturated with hopelessness that forces you to accept unchangeable situations that you know are contrary to the will of God.

Yet strongholds are real, and these strongholds are fortified places. They are false arguments and lofty opinions that counter God’s truth. They are areas where we are in bondage that affect our thinking in the worst way. When you begin to believe these false arguments, a terrible thing happens you develop a false way of thinking that captures your mind. A stronghold is not that thing that has a hold on you, that is not what a stronghold is.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (NKJV)

⁴ For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, ⁵ casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

What Paul is says is that we demolish arguments and every potential that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. because a stronghold is like a wall. So, Paul is saying that arguments are like bricks that build a wall, that set itself up against the knowledge of God.

So, stronghold is not the thing that has a hold on you. A stronghold is the argument, it is the belief, it is the thinking pattern that you have constructed that allows you to engage in that behavior.

The stronghold is not a drug addiction, it is not the dinking, it is not the depression. The Stronghold is the belief that these actions makes you feel better; our somehow protects you from getting hurt and until this belief are demolished you cannot change your behavior. So, until the belief is dealt with and the proclamation of GOD’S truth is applied that is the only way to demolish a stronghold.

This is what the enemy does not want you to know, a Christian who is walking in the power of the Holy Spirit and thinking with a renewed mind is a great danger to the kingdom of Satan.
