God Opens and Closes Doors

Have you ever ask yourself, what is God’s plan for my life, or what is God’s will for my life. What takes more discernment and more time is to know what God’s plan is for our life. Part of determining God’s plan is looking to see what doors God has open or what doors God has closes. What does it mean for God to open and close doors? His Word, has always, provides the answers. However, in order to understand God’s plan for our life we must come to the knowledge and acceptance of salvation. Once this takes place, then we are indwelled with the Holy Spirit Who gives us the wisdom, discernment, and power necessary to be a consciously willing participant in God’s plan.

Corinthians 1:30 (NIV)

It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

So then, before we begin to look at what it means for God to open and close doors, we must understand God’s will for our lives. As I just mentioned, we must come to the knowledge and acceptance of salvation. This is the first part of God’s will because He is not willing that any of us should perish in Hell.

2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

God knows who would trust in Jesus Christ and also know Him as their Savior and love Him. It's God’s will that we should be conformed to the image of His Son, which is made possible by being born again through Christ into God’s family Therefore, God’s will is that we become like Jesus Christ. Secondly God’s plan consist of His will for our lives, His destiny for us and the doors He will open and close. When it comes to God’s plan for our life, we must look to see what doors God opens and what doors God closes, and to be discerning about this, and allow yourself to be lead by the Holy Spirit.

Part of this discernment involves 3 considerations.

  1. Is going through this door God's will?

  2. Is there a need or a purpose?

  3. And has God made it the desire of our heart?

By asking these 3 simple questions, we can better discern what doors that God wants us to go through or not go through.

God Bless, Israel
