Kicking Old Habits

The enemy wants to remind you of your old habits and old lifestyles; they begin  to resurface when you are at your weakest point. You see when you gave your life to the Lord you turned your life around and you made significant changes in your life but that is only the beginning not the end.

The enemy isn't going to let you go just like that; no he is going to fight to bring you back in this mode of spiritual attack you will notice things like friends from the past coming back into your life trying to draw you backward. Certain people around you will begin to entice you to fall back into old harmful habits, this is the enemy testing you and tempting you so that you would leave everything for the pleasures of the world. It is like the parable Jesus tells about the farmer planting seeds.

 Matthew 13:18-23 (NKJV)

 ¹⁸ “Therefore hear the parable of the sower: ¹⁹ When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. ²⁰ But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; ²¹ yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. ²² Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. ²³ But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”

Jesus tells us this represents those who hear the word, receive the word, but the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word. We must guard against this attack by being vigilant about our company and staying plugged into a Bible believing Godly community. So, beware who is in your inner circle, beware of the company you keep some people will push you forward but some people come only to pull you back, we need to be wise when it comes to those around us.
