God gives us a personal navigator, a Helper who will never leave us stranded and confused. This Helper is God’s gift to believers, the Holy Spirit. Not only is the Holy Spirit a gift, He gives spiritual gifts. Every believer has been given at least one gift to build the kingdom of God. Some of the gifts of the Spirit are prophecy, teaching, encouragement, giving, leadership, and mercy. What pleases God isn’t our performance or impressiveness using our gifts, but our reliance on the Holy Spirit’s help.
Life is not always going to be a smooth ride, but we will always have the Holy Spirit with us, working on our behalf. Once we start a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit ignites a desire to know Him and become more like Him. He speaks to us about who Jesus is, what He has taught (John 14:26 - But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.), convicts us of sin (John 16:8 -When He comes, He will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment:) and guides us to truth (John 16:13 - But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come.)
As our relationship grows and we learn who we are in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit empowers us to live a life that reflects Jesus no matter the difficulties we face.
Even if you don’t feel the Holy Spirit’s presence or understand your situation, know that He will help you in your weakness (Romans 8:26 - In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.). You just have to ask, listen, and allow Him to move in your life.
Paul writes: 1 Corinthians 2:11 - For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Just like we know ourselves better than anyone else, the Holy Spirit knows God more than anyone else, because He is God.
God Bless, Israel
