It is vital for the church to know the Holy Spirit of GOD, and learn how to relate to Him, and
understand how He reveals Himself.
1. The Holy Spirit is a person.
Some see The Holy Spirit as an impersonal force, some deny His very existence, and others
are not certain who or what the Holy Spirit is. When we say that the Holy Spirit is a person, we mean that He is not a mere influence or power that God sends into our lives but that He is a Being who knows and feels and wills.
These three characteristics of personality, knowledge, feeling and will, are credited to the Holy Spirit over and over in the Bible.
The Holy Spirit is God, the 3rd Person of the Trinity, God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is pure Knowledge, He has will and Mind, He Loves and possesses Intelligence and Goodness, He Grief, He searches, He Speaks and Prays, He Teaches, and Guides. He is a Comforter, The Intercessor, The Advocate, The Counselor, The Strengthener and He’s always at our side, and He’s is the cure for Loneliness.
When Jesus completed His work, He went back and sat at the right hand of God, then God sent the Holy Spirit to take His place.
John 14:16-17 New International Version (NIV)
16 And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever - 17 The Spirit of Truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for He lives with you and will be in you.
The great thing about this is, Jesus in the flesh could only in one place at a time, even thou He is God. He came in the flesh as man, so He could only be in one place at a time. But the Holy Spirit can be anywhere at any time ministering to everyone no matter where there at.
Being a person, the Holy Spirit has feelings. He can become sad and or angry, others can insult Him, but there’s one thing we do and that is blaspheme against the Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 63:10 (NIV)
But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit; So, He turned Himself against them as an enemy, And He fought against them.
Matthew 12:31(NIV)
“Therefore, I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men”.
The attribute The Holy Spirit; He is a thinking being, He feels, He is an emotional being, and The Holy Spirit also is a being that is able to choose.
2. He has a purpose
He shows willfulness and discretion, loves, communicates, testifies, teaches, and prays. These are qualities that distinguish Him as a person. The Holy Spirit also acts as comforter, one who intercedes, or supports or acts as an advocate, particularly in times of trials pain and hardships.
Romans 8:26-27 (NIV)
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
3. The Holy Spirit works in the lives of believers.
The Holy Spirit will call you to a specific calling or task.
The Holy Spirit will empower you for service. In other words, the Holy Spirit will enable you to do what God has called you to do.
The Holy Spirit also works through us by giving us spiritual gifts.
1 Corinthians 12:7-10 (NIV)
1. Wisdom
2. Knowledge
3. Faith
4. Gifts of Healing
5. The power to do miracles
6. The ability to prophesy
7. The ability to tell the spirits apart (Discernment)
8. The ability to speak in different kinds of languages (Tongues)
9. The ability to explain what was said in those languages (Interpretation)
1 Corinthians 12:11 (NIV)
All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.
He doesn’t give us these gifts for our benefit, He gives us gifts for the common good of the church.
1 Corinthians 12:7 (NIV)
Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.
He also gives us gifts to serve others with.
1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
The Holy Spirit will empower you to accomplish what you were called to do.
4. "Without a life full of the Holy Spirit it’s impossible to build the body of Christ."
1 Corinthians 12:12 New King James Version (NKJV)
For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.
As believers of Jesus Christ, our spiritual well-being depends on our connection with Christ through His body. A church with no emphasis on the Holy Spirit is flat. What the human body is to us, Jesus Christ is to the Church (The body). There are many different parts doing many different things, but only one unit.
Ephesians 1:22-23 (NIV)
And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
Without the Holy Spirit, we end up limiting God’s work in our lives.
5. The power of the Holy Spirit changes lives.
The power of God through the Holy Spirit not only works miracles of healing, but it is the power that enables us to overcome our human nature.
Acts 1:8 (NIV)
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Galatians 3:2 Good News Translation (GNT)
Tell me this one thing: did you receive God's Spirit by doing what the Law requires or by hearing the gospel and believing it?
No one receives the Holy Spirit based on what they do. It is a Grace-Based Experience, we should receive the Holy Spirit by faith, and believe that He will respond to our requests without delay.
Luke 11:13 New King James Version (NIV)
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
The Holy Spirit empowers you and gives you understanding and the ability to recall important verses that apply to your life.
The Holy Spirit wants to empower us, to fight against the enemy with passion and a desire to overcome the desires of the flesh.
The role of the Holy Spirit is to help us, so let us not grieve Him, but listen to Him and obey Him. Allow the Holy Spirit to empower you for the purpose that God has called you for, if it’s
a worship leader, a prayer warrior, a pastor, an evangelist, a teacher, a Deacon, or an Elder whatever it is, let the Holy Spirit work in your life don’t resist.
God Bless, Israel
